Where the numbers come from
Every figure the calculator shows is taken from the typical 2026 market ranges in our website development cost guide, which are the same bands we quote in the FAQ on our web development page. The site type you pick sets the band. Pages, CMS, integrations, design and SEO move the estimate inside that band: a small, theme-based project sits near the floor and a large, original-design project with several integrations near the ceiling. The calculator never produces a number outside a published range. When your inputs look like a bigger project than the band you chose, it tells you which band to compare instead of quietly inflating the figure.
| What you are buying | Typical market range (INR) | Usual timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Template siteWordPress or a site builder, 5 to 8 pages, usually by a freelancer. | ₹15,000 – ₹60,000 | 1 – 3 weeks |
| Custom-designed business websiteOriginal design, 8 to 20 pages, typically a small studio. | ₹60,000 – ₹3 lakh | 3 – 6 weeks |
| B2B site with CMS, integrations and SEOCMS, CRM integration, analytics and SEO groundwork built in. | ₹2 lakh – ₹8 lakh | 4 – 10 weeks |
| Web application or portalCustomers log in, pay, book or manage something. SaaS MVPs sit here. | ₹8 lakh – ₹40 lakh+ | 8 – 20+ weeks |
What moves a website quote
Two quotes for the same one-paragraph brief can differ by ten times because they describe different projects. The ₹40,000 quote usually means an existing theme with your logo and content pasted in. The ₹4 lakh quote usually means discovery, a sitemap built around how buyers search, original design per template, a CMS, CRM integration, schema, a redirect plan and analytics on every enquiry path. The inputs above are the eight drivers the guide walks through: number of templates rather than pages, original design versus a theme, who writes the content, how the site will be edited, integrations, platform choice, SEO and migration work, and who does the work.
Recurring costs most quotes leave out
| Item | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Domain name | ₹800 – ₹2,000 per year |
| Hosting | ₹3,000 – ₹30,000+ per year |
| Theme and plugin licences | ₹5,000 – ₹40,000 per year |
| Maintenance and updates | ₹5,000 – ₹50,000 per month |
SSL is usually free. A useful sanity check: if a vendor's annual maintenance quote is higher than the build cost of a comparable site, either the site is unusually complex or you are being priced into a lock-in.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is this website cost calculator?
It is a market-range estimator, not a quote. Every number comes from the 2026 ranges published in our website development cost guide: ₹15,000 to ₹60,000 for a template site, ₹60,000 to ₹3 lakh for a custom business website, ₹2 lakh to ₹8 lakh for a B2B site with CMS, integrations and SEO setup, and ₹8 lakh to ₹40 lakh and up for a web application. Your inputs move the estimate within the band for your site type; they never push it outside a published range. A real quote needs a scope conversation.
Why does the dollar figure look low compared with US agency prices?
The dollar range is a straight conversion of the Indian rupee range at 1 USD = ₹84, included for readers who budget in dollars. It reflects what the same scope typically costs from teams in India, not what a US or UK agency would charge.
Does the estimate include GST, hosting and maintenance?
The build range is pre-tax; GST at 18% applies to most invoices from registered vendors. Hosting, domain and licences are listed separately on this page as published yearly ranges. Maintenance is shown as its own line (₹5,000 to ₹50,000 a month, or roughly ₹60,000 to ₹6 lakh a year) when you choose to include it.
Is my data stored when I use the calculator?
No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. There is no form submission, no API call and no login; nothing you select is sent to us or saved.
